Unlicensed Therapist

Summary of Position Centerstone seeks a therapist with experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This role offers a chance to work with a multidisciplinary team, without weekend or on‑call work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationships. Diagnostic Assessment – Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment, identify need for risk assessment including substance use assessments. Concurrent Documentation – Complete documentation within 24 hours. Provide assessment services and individual (and possibly family) therapy to clients with substance use issues. Treatment Planning – Develop, write, implement, evaluate, and revise overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on identified strengths. Therapeutic Interventions – Use empirically based modalities to engage and manage mental health or substance abuse diagnoses. Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines. Respond to supervisory requests for urgent care situations and coverage of vacant caseloads, including telephone and face‑to‑face intervention. Keep administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the program or organization. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Demonstrate strong organizational and planning abilities. Respond to consumer needs in a timely and professional manner. Demonstrate good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers. Qualifications Education Requirements Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a specialization in Mental Health Counseling is required. License‑eligible in the respective discipline is preferred. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related field, with at least 24 graduate‑level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health coursework, plus relevant coursework and work experience in: clinical treatment and planning, assessment of mental disorders, psychopathology, DSM use in clinical internship or practicum. Experience Requirements Clinical experience required, which may be fulfilled through practicum or internship during a master’s program.
