Staff Platform Engineer - Dev Infrastructure

Salary: $195,000 - 256,000 per year Requirements:

• We need 8+ years of experience running production infrastructure for a software engineering organization, with direct ownership of CI/CD or developer platform initiatives.
• You should have strong Linux systems expertise, including networking, storage, systemd, and kernel or driver troubleshooting.
• You must have practical ownership of a major CI platform such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite, or Jenkins, plus knowledge of the build and cache layers beneath it.
• You need substantial experience with a large-scale C/C++ build system such as Bazel, CMake, or an equivalent approach, including cross-compilation and dependency pinning.
• You should have experience with infrastructure as code tools like Ansible and Terraform, along with a GitOps-oriented approach built on reviewable, reproducible, version-controlled change.
• You must be fluent in Python and Bash, and prefer automation over manual procedures.
• You should have strong written communication skills and be able to document decisions clearly and durably.
• Bonus: experience shipping software to embedded or edge Linux targets such as ARM64, Jetson, Yocto/custom images, A/B partitions, or OTA update systems.
• Bonus: experience in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments, with good judgment about workload placement.
• Bonus: familiarity with observability and self-hosted tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, registries, artifact stores, and object storage.
• Bonus: background in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or another hardware-heavy setting where release quality has physical consequences.
• Bonus: experience with Nix, Bazel remote execution, or similar reproducible-build tooling at scale.

• We will have you own the build graph for a mixed C++/Python/Rust/CUDA monorepo, including incremental correctness, remote caching, and cross-compilation for AMD64 development machines and ARM64 targets.
• You will operate our CI capacity, including self-hosted runners, GPU and hardware-attached runners, and the queueing discipline needed to keep pull request feedback under ten minutes.
• You will improve reproducibility so that a build from a tagged commit months later still produces a bit-identical artifact.
• You will manage versioning, artifact promotion, and the container registry or package mirror infrastructure that supports it.
• You will design safe, resumable, bandwidth-aware robot rollouts with staged channels, canary robots, and rollback that works over unreliable links.
• You will own signing and provenance for anything deployed to a robot.
• You will create reproducible development environments across laptops, shared developer machines, and robots.
• You will build self-service tooling so autonomy engineers can deploy branches to robots without filing tickets or learning Kubernetes.
• You will shape the onboarding path so a new engineer can build, test in simulation, and deploy to a bench robot on day one.
• You will support cloud and on-prem compute, storage for multi-terabyte robot logs, and the operational layer for the training and simulation cluster.
• You will implement fleet observability across metrics, logs, and traces from robot to dashboard.
• You will support deployment site infrastructure, including VPN or overlay networking, local mirrors, and offline-capable registry authorization.
