Maintenance Technician ZFS Ithaca Night Shift

ZFS Ithaca has taken over the role of Michigans largest soybean processor a title held by its affiliate Zeeland Farm Services Inc. for more than 20 years.

ZFS Ithaca is a 45 million bushel per year soybean processing operation and a 6.8 million bushel grain storage facility serviced by both rail and truck. Located in the beautiful city of Ithaca in central Michigan ZFS Ithaca has quadrupled the states soybean processing capacity and will impact agriculture in the state for decades.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production and quality while supporting the policies goals and objectives of the company.

Schedule:

Sunday-Thursday Shift Schedule 5:00PM to 3:00AM

As a Maintenance Technician there is mandatory attendance during our bi-annual preventative maintenance shutdowns. On occasion some position specific training may occur outside of the typical work schedule listed. This position is on-call.

Compensation:

Position is hourly with an additional night shift premium of $1.50 an hour.

Eligible for monthly phone reimbursement.

This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in the established maintenance plan and compliance with procedures for maintaining high standards of ethanol and by-products operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
• Repairs or replaces plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis. Assists with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as required.
• Communicates directly with operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
• Assists with new installations and other projects as requested by the supervisor.
• Participates in safety health and environmental programs. Works in a safe manner at all times.
• Knows and understands city county state and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times.
• Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
• Assist all other employees and departments as required for efficient plant operation.
• Capable of performing and learning new industrial equipment mechanical repairs and basic electrical repairs.
• Provides a Customer Service attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work production and achieving quality standards.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations policies work procedures instruction and all safety requirements.
• Maintains a clean orderly and safe workstation/environment at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

• Education: High School or Equivalent required and related technical field certificate or diploma from a trade school in related field preferred.
• Experience : In-depth knowledge of maintenance and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility preferred.

• Must be 18 years of age.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Frequently required to walk and stand bend use stairs and ladders kneel to lift objects of 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 times may be confined or be harnessed.
• Able to work with heights up to and including 225 feet.
• Operate in an office and production environment. Production environment could include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; loud noise levels; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat or cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee has the potential to be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• This position requires the ability to wear a respirator.
