Summer Seasonal Grounds Maintenance

Seasonal position with the City of Beloit. Wages range from $17.00 to $18.00 hourly depending on experience. Work is performed at various locations including City Parks, Krueger Golf Course, Eastlawn Cemetery, City Parcels, and Public Right-of-Ways.

Job Summary:

The position involves grounds maintenance work from May through August and April through October, with variable hours typically around 30-40 hours per week. Duties include assisting with mowing, weeding, line trimming, planting, litter/debris pick-up, painting, event set-up/take-down, tree/bush trimming, cleaning bathrooms, watering plants/trees, cemetery care, and operating various equipment such as hand tools, chippers, tractors, bark blower, auger, rotary tiller, sod cutter, and hedge trimmer. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include being 18 years of age, possessing a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in grounds and landscape maintenance and equipment care is preferred. Must obtain an ATV/UTV license within one month of hire. Must be creative, enthusiastic, highly organized, motivated, dependable, patient, and able to maintain discipline. Must be capable of following directions and have an ability to learn new skills. Possess good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to complete daily paperwork, and work well with others from different cultures and backgrounds.
