Content Creator & Social Media Manager

We're looking for a "storyteller, creator, and community-builder" who can run Grit's entire social media presence and produce the creative assets that fuel our marketing. If you can shoot, edit, write captions that hit, and build a community that loves us — keep reading. If you're looking for a "post-and-go" gig, this isn't it. We're going big. We need someone ready for the ride. You will own the entire social media presence of Grit Fitness — shooting, editing, posting, and engaging across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube — while producing the creative assets that fuel every marketing channel, from daily stories to email campaign visuals. This is a full-time, salaried role (no freelancers, no agencies) based in Schererville, IN, operating on a hybrid schedule: on-site during prime gym hours (mornings 5–8am, evenings 5–8pm, some weekends) for shoots, and remote for editing and planning. You report directly to the Owner, with a dotted line to the General Manager. What you’ll deliver Publish 5+ reels, 3 photo posts, and daily stories every week for 12 consecutive months — no missed weeks, tracked weekly against schedule. Grow Grit’s Instagram audience by 50% or more year-over-year through organic content alone by Month 12. Build Grit’s TikTok presence from zero to 25,000+ followers by Month 12. Drive membership inquiries directly attributable to social content — at least 5 per month by Month 6, scaling to 15+ per month by Month 12, tracked via attribution reporting. Activate a member-generated content motion so that by Month 6, a minimum of 10 unique members per month are tagging Grit or producing shareable content on their own. Maintain a content library where 100% of footage is backed up and searchable by tag and date, with zero lost files and a clean quarterly audit. Fulfill every creative asset request from the email marketing agency within 48 hours of receipt, tracked monthly with no exceptions. Respond to 100% of DMs, comments, and tagged posts within 24 hours, audited monthly, representing Grit’s voice online with warmth and consistency. Who you are Shoot and edit video and photos that feel real and gritty — strong instincts for framing, pacing, music selection, and captions, with work distinct from generic fitness influencer content. Understand how Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube work differently and adjust formats, hooks, hashtags, and posting times for each platform without being told. Build your own shot lists, content calendars, and workflows; see the story in the room before anyone points it out, capturing moments without waiting for direction. Build genuine relationships with members and followers, surface people for transformation stories and UGC, engage online in a way that feels human and on-brand rather than templated. Track content performance weekly, identify what is converting versus what is not, and change your approach based on data — you don’t repeat what isn’t working just because it was comfortable. Keep a content calendar planned at least 7 days out, hit agency deadlines without reminders, maintain an organized file system so nothing gets lost and no one is waiting on you. Have 2+ years of professional content creation experience for an employer, client, or brand, with a portfolio (video reel, Instagram, or website) that shows it; applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed. Proficient in video editing (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut), photo editing (Lightroom and Photoshop), and write captions that are punchy, human, and match the brand voice. Have reliable transportation to Schererville, IN and live in NWI or the South Chicago area — no relocation budget. Have a genuine interest in fitness and community; members and viewers can feel the difference when it is real.
