Promotions Assistant

The Promotions Assistant provides support to the staff of the Promotions Team and the Marketing department of the Books Division.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining communications on the department's behalf, including monitoring phone line and email account.
• Responding to communications, taking action when necessary.
• Processing incoming review copy requests and ensuring they are filled in a timely manner.
• Facilitating requests from the media, including providing requested images and contacting authors for interviews.
• Processing reviews from media outlets.
• Overseeing student assistants by coordinating scheduling, delegating tasks, and ensuring the completion of tasks.
• Serving as the promotions contact and doing media outreach for a select group of client publishers.
• Conducting media research.
• Assisting the promotions team with ad-hoc tasks as needed, including semi-annual sales conference preparations and seasonal catalog production.
• Assists in developing marketing communications, advertising, or publicity materials with a moderate to high level of guidance from others.
• Performs one or more of the following marketing functions: marketing communications /advertising; Web blogs or digital marketing; market research; development or review and update of the marketing infrastructure and management of external sales agency relationships.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Responsibilities

Education:

• Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

• Some previous administrative work or publishing internship or related publishing experience.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

• Fluency with Microsoft Office, Google office suite. and similar products, database, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
