• Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg experience is required.
• Proficiency with central lines, NG tube management, ostomies, and drain management.
• Professional communication skills are essential.
• Experience with CBIs and foley management is preferred.

Description: Unit specifically focuses on general Medical Surgical patients. Department consists of a diverse range of surgical specialties including bariatric surgery, urology, colorectal, vascular, acute care, gynecological, and plastic surgery. The average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 depending on patient acuity, utilizing an acuity tool for assignment balancing. Charge nurse is available on each shift without a patient assignment. Leadership support is provided by assistant nurse managers and additional managerial staff for day, night, and weekend coverage. Remote tele-monitoring is utilized, but RNs are expected to interpret EKG strips. CNA support is available with a 1:8-10 ratio. The unit occasionally uses CPAP, high flow, and BiPAP equipment. Patients that require BiPAP will be transferred to a higher level of care. Floating to similar units is required as part of the role when necessary. Weekend work is expected every other weekend, with the possibility of additional shifts based on need. Holidays may also require staffing coverage if needed. An emphasis on professional appearance is required; scrubs must be clean and professional. Unit-specific orientation will be provided following general hospital orientation.
