About the Role:

The Hospitalist Full Time Nights position is a critical role focused on providing comprehensive inpatient care during nighttime hours in a hospital setting. The primary objective is to manage and coordinate the treatment of hospitalized patients, ensuring continuity of care and timely medical interventions. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and maintain high standards of clinical practice. The hospitalist will be responsible for making informed decisions regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge processes while addressing any emergent issues that arise overnight. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance patient safety, improve hospital efficiency, and support the overall healthcare delivery system during night shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
• Experience in hospital medicine or inpatient care, preferably with night shift exposure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fellowship training or additional certification in Hospital Medicine.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary hospital environment with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex medical cases and coordinate care across specialties.
• Strong background in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to hospitalized individuals during night shifts, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and changes in patient conditions, making critical decisions to stabilize and treat patients as needed.
• Document all patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols to enhance patient care during night hours.

The required and preferred skills are essential for delivering high-quality inpatient care during night shifts. Clinical expertise in internal or family medicine allows the hospitalist to accurately diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. Effective communication skills facilitate collaboration with nursing staff, specialists, and patients’ families to ensure coordinated care.
