Job Description

This role supports a modern container management and racking warehouse system, handling incoming containers, racks, and plastic totes used in manufacturing. As a Material Handler on 2nd shift, you will help keep operations running smoothly by washing and processing totes, preparing and repairing containers, and safely moving materials with a forklift. The position is hands-on, fast-paced, and focused on clear, well-defined processes in a clean, organized facility.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming containers, racks, and plastic totes in the warehouse, ensuring they move through the correct process flow.
• Operate tote washing equipment, including loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and scanning plastic totes.
• Stand for the majority of the shift while performing washing and processing tasks, with regular scheduled breaks.
• Work in inbound process lanes to remove manufacturer tags from containers and racks and prepare them for processing.
• Use a handheld RF scanner to accurately process and track incoming totes and racks.
• Repair large plastic containers ranging in size from approximately 2x2 to 8x8 using hand drills and screwdrivers.
• Perform material handling tasks on a forklift for the majority of the day, including getting on and off the forklift as needed.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, following all warehouse procedures.
• Read and interpret paperwork to ensure the correct containers and racks are being shipped and received.
• Maintain a high level of organization and follow clearly defined job duties to support efficient workflow.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective practices.
• Be available to work overtime, including up to 10 additional hours and occasional Saturdays as required by production needs.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of recent labor or forklift experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to train, with successful completion of a forklift driving test that includes driving forward and backward through cones and lifting and setting down a pallet.
• Basic warehouse and production experience, including material handling and general labor tasks.
• Ability to use an RF scanner for tracking and processing materials.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift with regular breaks.
• Willingness and ability to work up to 10 hours of overtime and work Saturdays when required.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in container management, racking systems, or similar warehouse operations.
• Previous experience with XPAC or similar material handling operations is beneficial, especially for forklift-focused duties.
• Familiarity with hand tools such as drills and screwdrivers for basic repair work.
• Strong attention to detail when reading paperwork and verifying shipments.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance, especially during training and orientation.
• Ability to adapt between different tasks such as washing, scanning, repairing, and forklift operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a new warehouse built in 2023 as part of an expansion from the Davenport facility. The environment is fast-paced, clean, and well-maintained, with a floor sweeper run at least twice a week. Temperatures are kept above 50 degrees in the winter and are warmer in the summer. The team is relatively small, with around 10 employees and 1 supervisor, fostering a close-knit atmosphere. Work is organized across multiple shifts: 1st Shift (MondayFriday, 6:00 a.m.2:30 p.m.), 2nd Shift (MondayFriday, 2:00 p.m.10:30 p.m.), and 3rd Shift (SundayThursday, 9:30 p.m.6:00 a.m.). The first day, including orientation and initial training, takes place on 1st shift in East Moline starting at 7:00 a.m., and training may extend up to three days. Dress and conduct should be appropriate for an active warehouse setting, with readiness for standing, bending, and hands-on material handling throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Moline, IL.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
