Medical Assistant - Pediatrics

Candidates must be detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, work well within a team, and have superior interpersonal skills.Job Summary:Under general supervision of physicians and nurse practitioners, the full-time Medical Assistant performs a variety of routine administrative, clerical and clinical supportive services to assist medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.DutiesPrepares the office and exam rooms for patient care, including cleaning, organizing and stocking of supplies.Performs patient intake, including (but not limited to) measurement of vital signs, height, weight, hearing and vision tests, and spirometry testing.Maintains cleanliness of office and exam rooms at all times per infection control policies.Inventories and stocks medical supplies and materials.Administers vaccines and oral medication, and performs routine laboratory tests.Processes in-office labsFollows all policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelinesWorks collaboratively with all staff and cliniciansDocuments accurately and completely using an Electronic Medical RecordAttends and participates in required meetings, training and educational programs.Performs administrative responsibilities in collaboration with the front office staffPerforms other related work as assigned.Requirements and Minimum Education Level:Must be available to work full-time at both offices located in Novato and LarkspurMust have a valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Educational programCalifornia Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification desired but not required.Must have current CPR and BLS certificationMust be fully vaccinated against COVID and willing to receive annual COVID and flu vaccinesExperienceMinimum of 1-2 years of work experience, including vaccine administration, is preferred.Prior experience working in pediatrics is a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must possess strong interpersonal skills.Ability to multi-task in a fast paced health-care clinic environment.Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and written.Ability to read English and comprehend medical information.Must be able to work at both the Novato and Larkspur locations.Bilingual Portuguese and/or Spanish is highly desired.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and movingMust be able to lift up to 50 poundsExposure to chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and patient body fluidsFull-time scheduling requirements:Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:30PMLocations:5 Bon Air Rd, Ste. 105, Larkspur, CA 94939251 Vintage Way, Novato, CA 94945Benefits:We offer medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO and sick pay, paid holidays, life / accident insurance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and are closed most weekends.Salary range:In accordance with California law, the expected hourly range for this California position is between $25 and $28 per hour.
