CNA Trainee

Get paid $16.00 an hour while you train to become a Certified Nursing Assistant at Elm Crest in Harlan. No experience or certification needed. We cover your CNA class and exam fees. Elm Crest has cared for older adults in Harlan and Shelby County since 1948. Our residents live in independent apartments, assisted living, and our skilled nursing health center. As a CNA Trainee, you'll learn side by side with our nurses and CNAs while you earn your certification. You'll then move to CNA pay and the CNA title. How your training works Start with Iowa's 20-hour orientation course, covering the basics of resident care and safety Complete Iowa's state-approved 75-hour nurse aide course, including hands-on clinical practice Pass the written and skills exams within 4 months of your start date, as Iowa requires Get placed on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry and move to CNA pay What you'll do Help residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and meals once you've been trained, with guidance from our nursing staff Follow each resident's care plan Spend time with residents through activities and conversation Tell the nurse right away if something about a resident seems different What you'll need Required: Commitment to complete the training and pass both Iowa CNA exams within 4 months of hire Able to communicate clearly with residents and staff in English Able to work rotating weekends and occasional holidays Able to pass Iowa's required background check for health care workers Preferred: Experience caring for older adults, including caring for a family member Pay and benefits $16.00 per hour while you train $17.00 per hour once you're certified Paid time for classes Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life and AD&D insurance Short-term and long-term disability Accident and critical illness plans Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 403(b) retirement plan Schedule Day shift, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Rotating weekends and occasional holidays We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
