2027 Summer Intern, MS/PhD

Responsibilities

• Conduct machine learning modeling experiments and prototyping for simulator evaluation tools.
• Write code within Waymo’s simulator and evaluation systems.
• Design statistical experiments to evaluate the efficacy of machine learning discriminators.
• Collaborate across organizations with onboard teams and safety and simulation technology launch stakeholders.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a master’s or PhD program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, robotics, or a related technical field.
• Have proficiency in software development using C++ or Python.
• Have a foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, machine learning, and statistics.
• Have knowledge of software systems, including distributed systems and accelerated computing.
• Show interest in autonomous driving, simulation, evaluation, and physical AI.
• Preferred qualifications include knowledge or experience with physical systems, physics, robotics, physical AI, and SQL.
• Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills are preferred.
