Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Medicine Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, Weekends, and Holidays required Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in nursing. License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. - PALS (American Heart Association). Must-Have: - Experience in Level 1 Trauma. - Ability to float to various pediatric units including acute care and step-down units. - Experience with trach care, high-flow oxygen, and infusions. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments while noting all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists the physician in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed, initiating, regulating, and monitoring intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients to share care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must float to various units including surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty, hematology-oncology, and cardiac pediatrics. Could float to lower acuity NICU cases only. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services while applying nursing techniques. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required.
