Development Associate

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of fund-raising experience, including grant proposal research, writing and oversight. Proven ability to establish relationships in the community with potential donors and supporters. Knowledge of Geauga County and surrounding areas strongly preferred. Working knowledge of the key elements of a comprehensive development program and demonstrated experience in its various elements such as grants, donor relations, and events. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation and analytical skills; and a broad awareness of community philanthropic resources. Must be able to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects and to maintain positive relations with a wide variety of people including members of the board, agency consultants, staff, volunteers, foundation representatives and donors. Proficiency in document preparation technology required; experience with fundraising software packages preferred. Experience in managing, writing and publishing brochures and annual reports is a strong plus. Must be a team player who is able to work autonomously; highly resourceful, flexible, and creative. Description This part-time position assists the Board of Directors with all aspects of revenue generation, including foundation & corporate grants, individual giving, government contracts, events, and communications/publications. Reports to: Board of Directors Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assumes primary responsibility for grant writing, submissions and reporting. Explores, analyzes and develops current and new sources of funding. Recommends and implements new fundraising initiatives as appropriate. Oversees annual fund campaign and all related activities. Develops and cultivates positive relationships with potential donors, foundations, corporations, individuals and organizations. Works closely with the Board of Directors, agency consultant, program manager and other staff, and volunteers. Prepares reports for internal and external purposes; manages the donor database and mailing lists relating to the work of fund development; assists the Board Secretary in producing timely and accurate acknowledgment of all gifts. Works cooperatively with Board, staff, and consultants to host fundraising events to benefit the agency and its programs. Completes other duties as assigned.
