Senior Scientist Single Cell Assay and Technology Development

Xaira Therapeutics seeks a Senior Scientist to invent and develop single-cell assays for AI-driven drug discovery. The role involves creating novel molecular readouts, extending existing technologies, and building reproducible high-throughput workflows in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, prototype, and develop novel single-cell assays with new molecular readouts and applications
• Develop and troubleshoot assay components from sample preparation through NGS library preparation and QC
• Build mammalian cell systems and functional assays using cell engineering, flow cytometry, and imaging
• Partner with biology and engineering teams to convert prototypes into scalable, reproducible workflows
• Evaluate and assess emerging assay and sequencing technologies

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, immunology, or related field
• 4+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in assay or technology development
• Proven track record inventing or substantially improving single-cell, NGS, or cell-based assays
• Expertise in molecular biology, nucleic acid handling, reverse transcription, and NGS library preparation
• Strong mammalian cell biology skills and cell culture experience
• Experience with single-cell sequencing workflows and troubleshooting across biology and instrumentation
• Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis; strong experimental design and statistical skills
