About the Role

We are seeking a visionary, deeply compassionate, and strategic leader to step into the role of Vice President of Affirming Care. In this executive role, you will serve as Lawrence Hall's designated LGBTQ Youth and Employee Advocate. You will lead our affirming care portfolio - including transitional living, community homes, clinical services, and case management-ensuring that LGBTQIA+ youth and staff across our entire agency continuum are fiercely supported, celebrated, and empowered.

What You ' ll Do: The Impact

  • Executive Advocacy & Strategy: Serve as the agency's leading voice on SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression) subject matter. Create and execute a comprehensive SOGIE Strategy aligned with Lawrence Hall's mission, and represent the agency in vital advocacy spaces like the Illinois LGBTQ Round Table and the National SOGIE Center.
  • Empower Teams & Youth: Provide high-quality leadership and direct supervision to Site Coordinators, LGBTQ Clinicians, and Case Managers. Champion youth voice, self-determination, and leadership in all program development.
  • Foster an Affirming Culture: Lead Lawrence Hall's Queer Collective (our staff affinity group) and collaborate with the READY Committee to ensure our workplace and residential environments are safe, inclusive, and deeply affirming.
  • Programmatic Excellence: Oversee the strategic direction, growth, and fiscal integrity of our LGBTQIA+ portfolios. Ensure high-fidelity implementation of the CARE model, the Youth Acceptance Project (YAP), and Appendix K.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Partner with fellow VPs, the VP of People & Culture, and the CFO to align services, advocate for equitable workplace practices, manage risk, and expand community-based behavioral health streams.

Who we ' re looking for

Required:

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or PsyD (or the ability to obtain Illinois licensure within 6 months of hire).
  • CWEL Certification (or the ability to become certified within 90 days of hire).
  • Valid driver's license (IL, IN, or WI) and access to a reliable personal vehicle with proof of insurance.
  • Ability to pass a background check, DCFS history screening, and drug screen.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including moving from kneeling to standing frequently and utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) physical restraint techniques for youth safety when necessary.

Preferred:

  • 10 years of experience in child welfare (including direct work with LGBTQIA+ youth) with at least 5 years of administrative leadership and program development experience.
  • Deep knowledge of childhood trauma, adolescent development, and healing-centered, strength-based practices.

Additional Information

This is a senior leadership position requiring a flexible schedule to ensure 24/7 organizational on-call support and operational oversight. Frequent travel between various Chicagoland program sites is required. Physical requirements of the role include moving frequently between kneeling and standing, and applying Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) physical restraint techniques for youth safety when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $87,000 - $93,000/year, based on experience.
