Volunteer Administrative Assistant The City of East Moline is seeking a community-minded volunteer to donate their time and talents in support of City Hall operations. This volunteer role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with the public, providing helpful information, and supporting local government services. Reports to: Mayor and City Administrator Time Commitment: Flexible, as needed Weekday Availability from 8:00 am 4:30 pm May be called upon to provide short-notice coverage during the absence of full-time staff May assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as requested Location: City Annex 912 16th Avenue, East Moline, IL 61244 Compensation: Volunteer | No Pay Primary Responsibilities: Answer telephone calls directed to the City of East Moline and provide accurate information or route calls to the appropriate department. Assist with responding to general correspondence and inquiries received by City Annex. Provide exemplary customer service to citizens seeking assistance from the City of East Moline. Welcome visitors and help direct them to the appropriate office or staff member. Offer administrative support to the Mayor, City Administrator, Human Resource Director, and Inspections Department as needed. Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor when interacting with residents, businesses, and City staff. Help ensure that citizen concerns and questions are handled promptly and efficiently. Desired Qualifications: Friendly and professional communication skills. Ability to interact positively with people from a variety of backgrounds. Basic telephone and office skills. Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail. Previous customer service or administrative experience is helpful but not required. A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
