Multi‑Modality Technologist 2 – Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center Job Summary The primary responsibility of a multi‑modality technologist is to perform any two combinations of procedures with related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. Essential Functions Perform duties for any two imaging modalities (ex: XR, CT, MRI). Meet any continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards. Operate equipment, accessories and be knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes of the two imaging modalities. Select appropriate imaging/sequences with consideration given to approved protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Obtain patient’s clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Use of POC device for lab work. Apply safety principles with a focus on the two imaging modalities to minimize risk to patient, self and others that may affect patient safety, damage the equipment or affect the image quality. Provide radiation protection and other protection specific to the two modalities for the patient and others. Verify patient identification using two patient identifiers and the procedure requested or prescribed by validating the order. When required by either of the two modalities, perform venipuncture including starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access. When required by either of the two modalities, identify, prepare and/or administer medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. When required by either of the two modalities, use a power injector for the administration of medication with approved vascular access device. Follow manufacturer guidelines regarding infusion rates and pressure. Scheduled for on‑call as required. Education Associate’s degree from an ARRT accredited institute or of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or of an approved School of Ultrasound/Medical Sonography (preferred). Required Licensing & Certifications Certification and Registration with ARRT, RDMS or CNMT (required). Required to be competent in two of the following and obtain certification within 12 months. Bone Densitometry (BD) Breast Sonography (BS) Radiologic Technology (R) Computed Tomography (CT) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) Ultrasonography (S) Nuclear Medicine (N) Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) * grandfathered Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) Cardiac Sonographer (CS) Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) Mammography (M) Vascular Sonography (VS) Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Class A CDL or Class B CDL (Commercial Driver's License) ** for locations with mobile mammography program only BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH) State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed). Experience 1 year of experience in healthcare environment (preferred).
