We are seeking a skilled Java Application Support Engineer to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong Java code analysis, SQL, debugging, and root cause analysis skills, along with experience troubleshooting production issues across applications, databases, and system integrations.

This role involves collaborating closely with software engineering, business, and support teams to resolve incidents, improve application performance, prevent recurring issues, and support ongoing application modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 application and production support for critical business applications.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents, application failures, and system performance issues across multiple platforms.
• Read, analyze, and debug Java application code to identify defects and diagnose technical issues.
• Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and document findings, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
• Identify recurring incidents and recommend permanent solutions to improve application stability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot application, database, API, and system integration issues.
• Write and execute SQL queries to analyze data, validate system behavior, and support incident investigations.
• Collaborate with software engineers to implement defect fixes, enhancements, and performance improvements.
• Support client-facing reports, batch processes, scheduled jobs, and system integrations.
• Monitor application health, investigate performance bottlenecks, and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.
• Participate in incident management, problem management, and post-incident reviews.
• Contribute to application modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work within Agile teams and collaborate with development, business, and production support stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in application support, production support, software development, or a related technical role.
• Strong understanding of Java applications, including the ability to read, analyze, and troubleshoot application code.
• Hands-on experience writing, executing, and troubleshooting SQL queries.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis for application, database, or system-related issues.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
• Ability to investigate complex technical issues and work toward effective, long-term resolutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Java-based enterprise applications.
• Additional experience in full-stack engineering, ideally 3–10 years.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as:

  • JavaScript
  • Shell scripting
• Experience troubleshooting APIs, batch processes, scheduled jobs, and system integrations.
• Familiarity with log analysis, application monitoring, and observability tools such as Splunk or similar platforms.
• Exposure to Agile or SAFe development methodologies.
• Experience in financial services, investment management, or asset management environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, including Devin IDE.
