Work Shift Evening (United States of America) Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence‐based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and ensuring individualized care; coordinating care through effective partnerships. Provide relationship‑based patient‑centered care that is consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity. Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose, keeping patients’ goals the focus of the plan of care. Practice using current clinical practice standards. Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation. Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that promotes the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participate and support performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all levels. Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education. Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff or students to ensure a qualified future workforce. Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, and participate in activities such as value analysis. Uphold all health care system policies and procedures and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions, consult appropriate experts, and use resources and evidence to address practice questions. Proactively plan for the care of patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care. Participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing – Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC‑PALS – American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS‑I – PALS – Instructor or PALS‑P – PALS – Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days TNCC – Trauma Nurse Core Course or ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or TNCC‑P – Trauma Nurse Core Course – Provisional (18 Months) within 18 Months ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS – Instructor or ACLS‑P – ACLS – Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days Required Minimum Experience Completion of an accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours and experience with direct patient care (preferred). Required Minimum Skills Ability to read, write and speak English and basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness and composure.
