Hog Mountain Animal Hospital is looking for a dependable, compassionate, and hardworking Kennel Assistant / Clinic Support team member . This position combines animal care with general clinic-support responsibilities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with animals, is comfortable with physical work, takes pride in keeping a clean environment, and can work independently while following established routines.

This position is available full-time or part-time .

What You Will Do
Responsibilities include:

• Feed, water, walk, and care for boarding pets.
• Clean and disinfect runs, cages, and animal-care areas.
• Monitor boarding pets and report changes in behavior or condition.
• Support daycare activities, including walking and playing with dogs.
• Provide basic exit baths for boarding dogs before they go home.
• Administer basic oral or topical medications when directed.
• Assist the veterinary team with safe animal restraint and positioning when requested.
• Help maintain a clean and organized hospital environment.
• Vacuum and mop floors.
• Empty trash.
• Clean and restock bathrooms.
• Wipe surfaces and clean windows and doors.
• Complete laundry for the entire clinic.
• Help clean exam rooms when requested during busy periods.
• Complete opening and closing checks for boarding animals and kennel areas.

Weekend Responsibilities
Boarding animals require care seven days a week.
Kennel Assistants participate in a weekend rotation. On an assigned weekend, the typical schedule includes:

• Saturday 8:00 AM-12:00 PM
• Approximately 1 hour Saturday evening
• Approximately 1 hour Sunday morning
• Approximately 1 hour Sunday evening

Weekend visits include feeding, walking, cleaning, monitoring boarding pets, and providing basic care as directed.

• Able to follow instructions and routines consistently

• Willing to help where needed
• Team-oriented
• Calm around nervous, excited, or difficult animals
• Responsible and able to recognize when something needs to be reported to the medical team

Previous experience in a veterinary kennel, boarding facility, animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar professional animal-care environment is preferred , but we are willing to consider the right candidate who demonstrates strong dependability, good judgment, comfort with animals, and a willingness to learn.

Schedule
Full-time employees generally work four weekdays per week with one weekday off.
Typical weekday shifts are:

• 7:30 AM-5:30 PM, or
• 8:00 AM-6:00 PM 
• with a one-hour lunch.

Part-time schedules are based on hospital needs and agreed availability.
Weekend availability is required as part of the boarding-care rotation.

Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach
• Safely handle and walk dogs of different sizes
• Perform regular cleaning duties
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Candidates must be at least 18 years old .
