Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Supply Technician, you'll be the backbone of our supply chain operations—ensuring that critical medical supplies reach patient care areas efficiently and safely. Under general supervision, you'll manage the complete lifecycle of supply distribution: from coordinating with freight vendors and inspecting shipments to maintaining inventory levels and resolving operational challenges. Your attention to detail and proactive problem-solving will directly impact patient care delivery and operational efficiency across our organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Orchestrate Logistics: Partner with major freight carriers (Federal Express, UPS, Airborne, Emery, and others) to coordinate seamless pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring timely movement of supplies throughout our network.
• Ensure Quality & Compliance: Conduct thorough inspections of all parcels to verify proper preparation according to security protocols, hazardous material standards, and shipping requirements—protecting both our organization and our patients.
• Optimize Supply Delivery: Deliver supplies to patient care areas with precision and punctuality, maintaining sterility and infection control standards that directly support quality patient outcomes.
• Maintain Inventory Excellence: Monitor supply usage patterns on carts, identify fluctuations, and collaborate with nursing managers to maintain optimal stock levels—preventing shortages while minimizing waste.
• Manage Supply Systems: Leverage hand-held computers and inventory management systems to download, upload, and process orders efficiently. Source special order items from non-prime vendors as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
• Receive & Distribute with Accuracy: Check incoming supplies against specifications, verify item numbers and quantities, and deliver stock to proper locations with documented signatures—maintaining a complete audit trail for accountability.
• Support STAT Operations: Respond promptly to urgent supply requests and deliver STAT items through patient charging systems, ensuring critical needs are met without delay.
• Maintain Equipment & Facilities: Keep supply carts and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use. Manage copier maintenance (toner, staples, paper) and ensure all equipment meets current safety inspection standards.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify process improvements, recommend solutions to minimize waste, and enhance inventory control—contributing to operational efficiency and cost savings.
• Resolve Operational Challenges: Address routine problems reported by departments with resourcefulness and professionalism, escalating complex issues to supervisors for resolution.
• Support Administrative Functions: Sort and distribute mail, manage outgoing correspondence, and handle general administrative tasks that keep our operations organized.
• Uphold Compliance & Ethics: Maintain current knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, our Corporate Compliance Program, and Code of Ethics—demonstrating honest, ethical, and professional behavior in all interactions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with some computer knowledge, typing ability and good communications skills.
• Approximately six (6) months previous experience in a warehouse or stock department or requisitioning, ordering, or receiving supplies environment in order to gain a working knowledge of the operations and procedures.
