Our organization is in search of a distinguished Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery to lead our vibrant team. This role is available at the associate or professor level , providing a unique chance to influence the future of pediatric surgical care within our health system and the surrounding region. Our facility is recognized as an ACS verified Level 1 pediatric surgery trauma center, the sole program of its kind in the area.

In this leadership position, you will manage a division that includes pediatric surgeons and an advanced practice provider , focusing on delivering comprehensive surgical and trauma care for infants, children, and adolescents. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing daily operations, supporting faculty and administrative staff, and fostering growth in clinical, academic, and research initiatives.

  • Regional Expansion: Increase access to advanced pediatric surgical care throughout northeastern New York, including complex cancer treatment and elective surgeries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership as the Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery .

  • Act as the Chief of Surgery at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital .

  • Serve as the Trauma Medical Director for the Level 1 Trauma Program.

  • Oversee daily operations, including management of faculty and administrative staff, budget oversight, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Encourage collaboration among pediatric subspecialties within the Albany Med Health System.

  • Support academic development through teaching, mentoring, and research involving medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, and faculty at Albany Medical College.

  • Enhance clinical programs to ensure outstanding quality and outcomes for pediatric patients.

  • Lead regional initiatives to expand pediatric surgical services across the health system.

  • Increase research activities and represent the division through publications and presentations at both regional and national conferences.

  • Drive innovation in surgical techniques, particularly in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

  • Continue to refine a robust quality program in alignment with departmental and health standards.

  • Collaborate with the department chair on faculty development, recruitment, and retention strategies.

Qualifications
  • MD/DO or equivalent with board certification in Pediatric Surgery.

  • A Master's degree in business administration or healthcare administration, or certification in a leadership program, is highly preferred.

  • Academic qualifications suitable for appointment at the associate or professor level at Albany Medical College.

  • Proven success in clinical leadership, operational management, program development, and faculty oversight.

  • A strong commitment to advancing innovation in pediatric surgery, particularly in minimally invasive and robotic techniques.

  • Experience in clinical research is highly desirable.
