About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 3 days per week & every other weekend required Experience: Two (2) years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Competent in medication titration Description: Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care. Be responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating all care provided to assigned patients. Ensure the delivery of care is based on the standards of care and practices established by relevant policies and procedures. Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through services such as case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and the provision of supportive or restorative care. Supervise patient care provided by nursing staff. Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient or significant other. Develop comprehensive and current plans of care which include physical needs, patient teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial or spiritual needs. Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen. Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient. Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and therapeutic modalities. Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and when significant changes occur in patient condition or diagnosis. Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure the implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with the medical regimen. Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as indicated. Assure the plan of care integrates age-specific care needs as defined in the unit scope of care. Accept responsibility and accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes based on professional clinical judgment. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the development of nursing standards. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, manage stressful situations appropriately, and facilitate interpersonal relationships with other disciplines. Participate in the orientation of nursing staff. Assume charge responsibilities as delegated. Ensure appropriate coverage of all patients by assisting and relieving co-workers and working on other units as assigned. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses. Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs. Participate in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department. Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education, including attendance at staff development and continuing education programs and pursuit of relevant degrees and certifications. Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations.
