HVAC Start-Up / Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Start-Up / Service Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of residential and/or commercial HVAC systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of delivering excellent customer service while ensuring equipment operates efficiently and according to manufacturer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform HVAC equipment start-up and commissioning on newly installed systems
• Verify proper installation, airflow, refrigerant charge, controls, and system performance
• Diagnose and repair heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance and system inspections
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
• Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, airflow, and control system issues
• Complete service reports and startup documentation accurately
• Communicate findings and recommendations with customers and project managers
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
• Follow all safety procedures and company standards

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC service, installation, or equipment start-up
• Knowledge of gas furnaces, heat pumps, RTUs, split systems, mini-splits, and controls
• EPA Certification required
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to read gauges, meters, and electrical schematics
• Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Capable of lifting equipment and working in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• NATE certification
• Commercial HVAC experience
• Experience with VRF/VRV systems and building automation controls
• OSHA 10 certification

Requirements:

• Proficiency in sheet metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, bending, welding, and soldering.
• Strong understanding of industrial HVAC systems, equipment, and components.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with HVAC codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Competence in using hand and power tools, as well as specialized sheet metal fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of ductwork design, airflow principles, and insulation materials.
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients.
