Position Overview Woolpert is hiring a Senior Roadway Engineer to join our dynamic Transportation Team at one of our Ohio offices. This position reports to the Roadway Team Lead and is responsible for designs of roadway, bikeway, trail and pedestrian projects. The senior engineer leads designs, assists in resource planning for staff, mentors junior staff, and oversees projects from concept to final design. The role spans multiple clients, states, and project types, and requires close collaboration with other design teams in bridges, traffic, site development, planning, and more. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located. What You Will Do Lead design of complex roadway and transportation projects that require creative solutions, including roadway, bikeways, pedestrian facilities, roundabouts, trails, multi‑modal transportation, or transportation planning. Direct engineering design tasks such as highway and street design, roadway alignments, roundabout design, roadway grading and modeling, curb ramp design, sign and pavement plan, maintenance of traffic, storm drainage. Use local and federal roadway standards to prepare preliminary and final design documents, cost estimates, and bid documents. Perform detailed review of design plans and supporting documents. Perform designs using software including MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D. Assist Project Managers in writing proposals and preparing scope, schedule, and budget of projects. What You Will Bring Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related technical design field. Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience preferred. MUST be a licensed PE. If licensed in another state, ability to obtain a license in Ohio. Ability to lead design and allocate work to others. Experience in Roadway, Highway, Trail, Bikeway/Pedestrian and/or Roadway Drainage design. Expertise in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD). Experience with ODOT, INDOT, TxDOT is a plus. Ability and desire to mentor design staff. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Pay Range $139,200 – $174,000 USD Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
