Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours, 36 hours per week Experience: 2+ years in Medical Surgical nursing License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Level II or I trauma experience Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical specialty. The unit is a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit with a diverse patient population, including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke care. The environment is fast-paced and offers great learning opportunities for both graduate and experienced nurses. Nursing on this unit is patient-centered and focused on safety and quality care for positive patient outcomes. Team members' contributions toward providing excellent, evidence-based care are valued. An active and engaged Unit Based Council promotes a healthy work environment with teamwork and positivity. New team members receive support during their orientation as they grow in their nursing practice. The nursing staff collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Care Team using clinical pathways, patient education, and interactive communication. All aspects of patient care are addressed through this collaborative approach. Clinical expertise is demonstrated through the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. Ongoing learning is encouraged through certification, advanced practice, and literature review. Leadership is exhibited by sharing knowledge and serving as a clinical resource and role model. Effective communication is vital and is achieved through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary communication. Time management skills are essential, and team members are expected to assist others to enhance overall team performance. Additional duties may be assigned as consistent with the purpose of the job. A strict attendance policy is in place, requiring punctuality and commitment to scheduled shifts. Situations such as communicable diseases or hospitalization will be reviewed favorably if documented.
