Title: Radiation Therapy TechSTATUS: Full-timeLOCATION: Rochester General HospitalDEPARTMENT: RadiationSCHEDULE: Mon - Fri; Rotation of 7 am - 3:30 pm, 7:30 am- 4 pm & 8 am-4:30 pm.On-Call: on call weekends, approximately once every 7 weeksSUMMARYAs a Radiation Therapy Technologist, your superior customer service skills and empathy for patients, along with your strong attention to detail, allow you to deliver precise doses of radiation while ensuring patients the highest level of comfort possible. RESPONSIBILITIESPatient Care. Perform simulations for treatment under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist; construct immobilization devices and custom shielding; schedule patient appointments; deliver prescribed therapeutic doses of radiation; take port films and labels to be checked appropriately; record treatment records, including dose addition, documentation of port films, adjustments in prescriptions, diagrams, blocking, and landmarkQuality Control & Documentation. Ensure quality control procedures on equipment; keep daily Log Sheets, including documentation of inpatients, finishes, new courses, new patients, electron patients, and non-malignant cases; keep necessary records for department statistics.Strong attention to detailCompassionate, kind, and patient-focused Excellent organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of a 2-year Radiation Therapist ProgramNew Graduates: Official transcript from an accredited school or a letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation. Primary source education verification is required within 90 days of graduation.NYS Licensure as a Radiation Therapist required OR must hold a NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:ARRT certification preferredEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.
