Data Entry Clerk

Job TitleJob DescriptionEnters school data into computer or onto magnetic tape or disk for subsequent data entry by performing the following duties:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepares data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities.Processes documents by reviewing data for deficiencies, resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the principal for resolution.Keeps track of received data and source documents.Prepares and sorts source documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen, and enters necessary codes.Verifies entered data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; purging files to eliminate duplication of data.Compares data entered with source documents, or reenters data in verification format on screen to detect errors.Maintains confidentiality with all documents data entered.Makes necessary corrections to information entered.Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of data to be entered.Keeps record of work completed.Transmits entered information into database.Files or routes source documents after entry.Responds to inquiries regarding entered data.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
