PAY GRADE: Grade 27 TYPE: Full time JOB SUMMARY: The Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance, operations, and facility-related activities across the department. This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by overseeing facility inspections, maintenance, repairs, and construction projects while ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments. The Facilities Manager will supervise managers and staff, coordinate with internal departments and external organizations, and support events, safety initiatives, supplies, and facility operations. Additional responsibilities include monitoring inventories and managing the department’s budget. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills to a role that is essential to the department’s day-to-day operations and overall success. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The Jefferson County Department of Health provides competitive pay and comprehensive benefits packages to include medical and dental insurance, employer-sponsored retirement plan (pension), generous paid holidays, sick and vacation leave, and more. $75,524 - $117,145 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position: Valid driver’s license. Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) to develop and utilize written correspondence, reports, memos, and spreadsheets. Experience supervising, coordinating and directing the activities of multiple personnel in the crafts or maintenance field, performing construction or maintenance of commercial or industrial facilities. Experience working with and monitoring operating and capital budgets for commercial or industrial facilities. Experience planning and managing construction or maintenance projects for commercial or industrial facilities. TYPICAL JOB DUTIES: Contributes to administration of departmental or organizational budget to help ensure ongoing work and special projects are adequately funded. Administers and manages the solicitation and hiring of contractors, and the status of contracted projects to track project status and address any changes that may be necessary. Oversees and participates in onboarding programs for new hires so staff can perform to standards. Engages in activities designed to ensure professional development, awareness of developments in the field, and knowledge of relevant practices, rules, laws, policies, and/or guidelines. Initiates, plans, executes, and monitors work involved in the completion of projects to ensure efficient delivery of services and products. Oversees adherence to safety codes and preparedness for and conformance of staff regarding safety to ensure a safe workplace. Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Job involves moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 50 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both within employer-owned facilities such as offices, workshops, warehouses, or stations. Work involves use of various hand tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches. Work involves use of office and communication equipment such as computers, copiers, phones, and two-way radios. Work may require exposure to live electrical circuits, volatile gasses, and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
