Construction Engineer

AECOM is seeking Construction Engineer to be based in New York, NY.

Under general supervision, performs routine duties and applies sound professional judgment to construction projects. Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications. Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design. Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting project progress and material inventory. May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors on project-related tasks. Monitors compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and contractual requirements throughout all project phases. Coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely execution and resolution of construction-related issues. Maintains comprehensive project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and correspondence for regulatory and administrative purposes. Assists in budget tracking, cost analysis, and change order management to support project financial controls. Participates in site meetings and provides progress updates to project management and client representatives.

Minimum Requirements: BA/BS plus two years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal communications and collaboration skills, comfortable engaging with residents in a multi-cultural environment, and with tenant and development management, elected representatives, and other stakeholders. 10 years of project or program management oversight experience. Knowledge of procedures and regulations for removing hazardous materials such as lead-based paint, mold and asbestos. Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures. Experience in project scheduling, cost estimating.
