Job Summary: The Quality Data Specialist will be responsible for the abstraction, validation, monitoring, and reporting of quality measures internally and to regulatory bodies including federal, state, and the Joint Commission. Demonstrates subject matter expertise of the quality measure definitions. Perform quality data analysis, identify data quality issues, and work with appropriate resources to get issues resolved. Provides dashboards and reports to stakeholders and collaborates with leaders and multidisciplinary teams to make improvements. Supports quality and process improvement metrics to drive change throughout the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understands & provides hospital quality knowledge and is responsible for appropriate tasks assigned.
- Participates in learning opportunities and maintains hospital quality expertise.
- Contributes in a manner to improve quality by sharing knowledge & proactively identifying issues.
- Maintains & improves knowledge of hospital quality & stays at the forefront of changes to hospital quality measures and/or definitions.
- Effectively uses Microsoft Excel to assist clinical managers & the director to develop graphs & reports to depict analysis & interpretation of data.
- Runs quality data reports monthly and validates for accuracy and integrity.
- Reviews patient records and extracts relevant data for quality improvement, compliance, and reporting purposes.
- Follows established clinical data abstraction guidelines, such as those set by CMS and The Joint Commission.
- Processes in place to proactively monitor and report appropriate quality and process improvement metrics.
- Works with improvement teams to provide data support for metrics, scorecards, and control plans.
- Identifies data quality issues and work with appropriate people and/or teams to resolve issues.
- Translate data report results to dashboards for managers and leadership team.
- All data collected is legible, complete, and timely.
- Collects data for inpatient readmissions and records in excel tracking file.
- Submits required data to regulatory bodies before deadline dates.
- Communicates clinical documentation deficiencies to Director and team members as indicated.
- Serves as point of contact for the MBQIP program and regulatory reporting through Oracle.
- Attends and contributes to multidisciplinary teams as assigned.
- Status of project tasks are completed and communicated in a timely manner.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal, written, listening communication skills and interpretation of data within the medical record.
- Detail oriented, meets deadlines, strong critical thinking & organizational skills
- Works independently; able to multi-task
- Able to operate various office equipment
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Associate's degree or equivalent majoring in Nursing or related field.
- Minimum of 3-years relevant work experience is required
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent use of hands, walking, sitting, standing, talking
- Occasionally may have to lift up to 25 - 50 lbs
