Job Summary - Employees in positions allocated to this level perform parking enforcement duties on a campus. They work under general supervision of a Parking Services Agent III or other designated supervisor.

Job Description - A Parking Services Agent I typically—1. issues citations for violations of campus parking regulations2. reports infractions of other university regulations to proper authorities3. in the course of other duties, notes readily apparent lot hazards (such as broken glass or broken gates)4. receives training in higher level duties5. may staff parking facilities and may collect parking fees as required6. provides directional information as requested7. performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications - 1. high school graduation or equivalent2. possession of a valid State of Illinois driver's license3. no record of conviction of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude

Preferred Qualifications - PACE Driver Experience Familiarity with South Side Chicago Routes Knowledge of local streets, landmarks, and traffic patterns near Chicago State University and surrounding neighborhoods. Customer Service Training or Experience Demonstrated ability to provide courteous and responsive service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Clean Driving Record for 5+ Years A motor vehicle record (MVR) free of serious violations, demonstrating long-term safe driving habits. Basic Mechanical Knowledge Ability to perform or identify basic vehicle safety checks and maintenance needs. First Aid/CPR Certification Current or previous certification in First Aid, CPR, or other emergency response training. Experience Working with Individuals with Disabilities Familiarity with ADA guidelines and supporting passengers with mobility devices or accessibility needs. Flexible Availability Willingness to work split shifts, evenings, weekends, or special event assignments as needed.

Physical Requirement/ Demands - Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a shuttle vehicle. Requires the ability to enter and exit the vehicle frequently, including assisting passengers with boarding or exiting. Must be able to bend, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds occasionally to assist with passenger items (e.g., walkers, bookbags). Must have sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate vehicle controls safely. Requires adequate visual and auditory acuity to detect road hazards, hear emergency signals, and communicate with passengers. Ability to operate mobility assistance equipment (e.g., wheelchair lifts, securement systems) and assist passengers with disabilities as needed. Must be able to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including walking around the vehicle, bending, and checking under the hood.

Work Environment - Work is performed primarily in a university shuttle vehicle operating on and around the CSU campus and surrounding city streets. Exposure to varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold, while assisting passengers or during vehicle inspections. May involve occasional exposure to noise, vibration, and exhaust fumes from traffic and shuttle operations. Interacts regularly with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors, requiring professionalism and a customer-focused attitude. May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or special events, depending on the transportation schedule and university needs. Expected to maintain a calm, safe, and service-oriented demeanor while managing diverse passenger needs and responding to unforeseen situations such as route changes or delays.
