Engineering Associate

Job Description The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Highways and Aviation is seeking an Engineering Associate to support maintenance and operational activities across the Fairbanks region. Responsibilities Collaborate with the Regional Maintenance Engineer to develop the region’s preventive maintenance program and maintain auditable records of completed work. Administer the Aggregate Stockpiling Program, manage new production contracts, and secure required permits and documentation. Assist in managing contracts for M&O operations, including supply and construction contracts via AASHTOWare. Provide engineering and program support to M&O staff throughout the region, including funding, regulatory, and environmental requirements. Support emergency response and recovery efforts for infrastructure damaged by natural disasters. Qualifications Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, including at least one year as an Engineering Assistant III with the State of Alaska. Knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, and methods for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of public works. Strong problem‑solving skills, sound judgment and the ability to evaluate alternatives. Project management knowledge for scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.
