Private Chatterbox Voice-Cloning Setup – Engineer Role & Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Python / DevOps engineer to perform a one-time setup of a private Chatterbox-based voice-cloning system. Our team is non-technical, so the engineer will handle the technical implementation and deliver a simple, easy-to-use interface that we can operate ourselves after handover.

This should be a straightforward project for someone experienced with Python, server deployment, and basic web application setup. The final system should be private, secure, and usable by non-technical staff without needing engineering help for day-to-day use.

Objectives

• Deploy the open-source Chatterbox Multilingual TTS model in a private environment.

• Allow our internal team to generate audio by pasting text and using approved reference voice samples.

• Keep all voice samples and generated audio inside our own environment, not on public demo sites or third-party SaaS platforms.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Python and Python environments.

• Experience deploying AI or machine-learning models on servers.

• Basic web development skills to build a small internal web page or API.

• Understanding of security and access control for internal tools.

Scope of Work

Environment & Installation

• Select an appropriate server or cloud environment for running Chatterbox.

• Install and configure the Chatterbox TTS model and all required dependencies.

• Ensure the system is ready for English and Spanish, with the ability to test Hebrew later.

Private Web Interface

• Build a simple, password-protected web page for internal users.

• The page should allow users to:

■ Paste or type text.

■ Upload or select a stored reference voice sample.

■ Click a button to generate and download audio.

• Keep the interface minimal and intuitive for non-technical staff.

Security & Data Protection

• Store all reference voice samples and generated audio only inside our private server or cloud account.

• Do not use public Hugging Face demos or external SaaS services for production voices.

• Implement basic access control so only authorized users can log in and generate or download audio.

• Document where files are stored and how they can be backed up or archived.

Configuration & Optimization

• Configure Chatterbox for stable, good-quality output.

• Set reasonable default settings for speed, tone, and expressiveness so most users do not need to adjust technical parameters.

• Verify that performance is acceptable for our expected workloads.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Run test cases with sample voices and texts to confirm:

■ Voice cloning behaves as expected.

■ Audio quality is acceptable in English and Spanish, where possible.

■ The interface is responsive and reliable.

• Fix any critical issues discovered during testing before handover.

Handover & Documentation

• Provide a short written guide with screenshots covering:

■ How to log in to the web page.

■ How to upload or select a reference clip and generate audio.

■ Where generated audio files are saved and how to find them.

• Provide simple operational notes, such as how to restart the service or who to contact if an error appears.

• Transfer all necessary credentials and configuration details to the designated internal owner.

One-Time Support Window

• Offer a limited support window after go-live,

• The goal is to keep the setup simple for the team and manageable for a non-technical user.

• The final deliverable should be a private, working system that our team can operate independently after handover.
