We have a mission that matters!Description of WorkKnowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesThis position is located at Eastern Correctional Institution. Must have effective verbal & written communication with staff, offenders, and the general public. Be capable of defending oneself against attack by violent persons. Monitor off site programs, which may require operation of a motor vehicle in a safe/ secure manner at any time of day and in varying weather/ road conditions. Work under stressfulconditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders who can become physically violent and verbally abusive. Conduct continuous visual/ audio surveillance of assigned work area. Accurately operate various office machines, prepare written reports/ forms which accurately reflect information reviewed from various sources. Demonstrate/ instruct inmates in the proper safe use of tools/equipment/supplies. Review, analyze & evaluate various documents and behavioral data gathered from interviews, written documentation and personal observation. Perform crisis intervention/ routine counseling including suicide prevention. Effectively train, observe, evaluate, and supervise subordinate staff in duties/ responsibilities. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions.
