We welcome all healthcare professionals to join our thriving community and contribute to our pursuit for clinical excellence.Department:CC017704 MS Cancer Center Clinical SupportJob Description Summary:Position ResponsibilitiesObtain and assess family and medical history and counsels patients and/or families in cases of genetic disorders or birth defects.Discusses genetic testing process, possible results and benefits and limitations of genetic testing options. Obtains informed consent from interested patients.Coordinates and researches all insurance coverage for genetic testing for patients. Researching the best tests based on patient’s insurance coverage. Prepares letters of medical necessity.Assists families in understanding genetic disorders in their families; probable course of the disorder, available management strategies, medical recommendations from the geneticist and recurrence risks.Documents in patient charts and develops follow-up recommendations for patient; documents cases and maintains appropriate records, ensuring confidentiality.Develops and presents educational and related programs, and available resources as appropriate.Coordinates and supports the execution of research protocol as needed; including recruitment and assessment of research subjects, provision of patient advice and support, and maintenance of research records.Performs associated administrative or clerical tasks, which may include special projects, correspondence, and program funding activities.Teaches and supervises training activities of residents and/or other health care professionals.
