Job Title: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) Profession: CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assist) Specialty: OR First Assistants Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours x 3; F/S/SU, 7A-7:30P Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Current surgical tech certification through one of the following boards: NBSTSA, NCCT, or AAHA Certifications: BLS ACLS PALS CSFA via NBSTSA CST via NBSTSA Must-Have: Proficiency in assisting in orthopedics Experience with 1-1 ratios in the operating room Description: The unit has an average of 28 cases per day with some add-ons. All surgical cases are covered, excluding Open Heart procedures. Most cases include neuro spine, total joints, and open fractures. General and ENT cases are also handled. Scrubbing is a plus but not required for all roles. There are 2 techs for every RN in the operating room. Weekend and weeknight call rotations are expected. Call response time is 20 minutes. Scrubs are provided for staff. Pharmacy support is available 24/7. Common shifts are 12-hour shifts, varied start times include day and evening shifts. There is no self-scheduling for travelers, but block scheduling may be allowed if it meets unit needs. Floating to outpatient surgery may be required.
