On our facilities team, your job will be to create a comfortable and safe environment — just like our patients have come to expect. Job Responsibilities Inspect, operate and maintain a high‑pressure/steam powerhouse, HVAC systems, and emergency power and fire protection systems. Monitor and maintain HVAC‑related source and distribution equipment such as steam, chilled water, water chemistry, humidification, and air handling. Monitor and respond to all fire protection systems. Respond to all emergency calls. Test and monitor emergency generators and transfer equipment. Work at other Cleveland Clinic facilities as needed. A caregiver in this role works the 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) on a rotational schedule. Caregivers may be scheduled to work weekends and holidays based on their schedule rotation. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Third Class Stationary Engineers License from the State of Ohio. Military experience as a Machinists Mate (MM), Electric Power Production (3E0X2), or a similar role will be considered. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers, and air handling systems. Working knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics. Preferred Qualifications Preferred two years of experience as a stationary engineer or industrial/utility power plant operator. Time spent in a Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program may be applied toward this preferred experience. Knowledge of fire protection equipment, building automation equipment, emergency generators, and HVAC equipment is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.). Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.). Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.). Ability to inspect equipment. Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures. Ability to distinguish color. Ability to climb ladders. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Job Policies All offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances.
