Acute Float Pool-Certified Nurse Asst

Position Purpose Under the supervision of the unit manager or nurse on duty, as defined by the Nevada State Board of Nursing, this position is responsible for providing or assisting in activities of daily living, as well as emotional support to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Direct supervision means direction given by the manager or nurse on duty who is periodically available at the site where care is provided or available for immediate assistance. This position may be utilized as a float CNA in the Acute Services Division, including Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows, and Renown Rehabilitation in the units where competencies are assessed and demonstrated. Nature and Scope This position provides personal hygiene, mobility, safety, and comfort to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as directed by the professional nurse. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of the equipment specific to the area of employment and is responsible for annually demonstrating proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, CPR, and safe handling of hazardous materials. Decisions are referred to the manager or RN on duty, including information to and orders from the physician, administration of medication and IVs, formulation of the patient care plan, performance of nursing procedures, and resolution of any unusual circumstances not included in current policies and procedures or standards of care. This position is challenged to maintain accuracy, communicate effectively with different types of people, function effectively under stress, and identify and maintain priorities while responding simultaneously to requests from different people. The position is also challenged to remain courteous and tactful at all times. The incumbent assists in procedures to facilitate the proper documentation of patient care from pre‑admission to discharge and must be familiar with standard operating procedures in ancillary departments to schedule diagnostic tests and treatment without conflict. This position is responsible for the maintenance of unit supplies and interdepartmental communication and is responsible for other duties as assigned. Acute Float Poll CNAs will float to the emergency room, all inpatient units, and other departments where CNAs are utilized at Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows, and Renown Rehab Hospital. This position does provide patient care. Minimum Qualifications Requirements – Required and/or Preferred Education: Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Experience: Six months CNA experience preferred. License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada CNA License. Certifications: AHA BLS certification.
