Job Summary Medical Records Specialist – HCA Healthcare, Medical City Dallas, Dallas, TX. Schedule: Thursday – Monday, 12:00am to 8:30am. Responsibilities Retrieve and reconcile discharged medical records from various hospital departments. Facilitate retrieval, printing, and archival of medical records, including alternate media (e.g., fetal monitor strips). Assist with the physician suspension process: assess eligibility, create recommended suspension lists, send notice letters, and make reminder calls. Prepare medical records and loose documents for scanning and perform the scanning process. Index scanned medical records and perform quality‑control validation to ensure all documents are correctly scanned. Complete required certification programs and continuing education mandated by state law for birth certificate processing. Interact with parents to collect birth information, guide them in completing required forms, and assist with Acknowledgment of Paternity forms. Review patient medical records and related resources to obtain necessary birth information. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Hospital or medical office experience preferred but not required. Experience handling patient health information, medical records imaging, or related duties strongly preferred. Completion of a state certification program for birth certificate processing may be required.
