Assistant Softball Coach

Job Description: APPOINTMENT: July 2026 RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant softball coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with the conduct of practices and games, working on individual player development, supervising pre-season and conditioning programs, assisting with recruitment and contact of prospective student-athletes, promoting and maintaining positive public relations, helping to plan and conduct camps / clinics, plus other duties as assigned by the head coach. Successful candidate must be committed to the academic success of student-athletes and be committed to their personal growth and social development. Successful candidate must be fully committed to all NCAA, The Ohio Valley Conference, and Western Illinois University Athletics Department policies and procedures. RANK & SALARY: $35,000 - $38,000 per year. Western Illinois University employees may be eligible for a variety of State of Illinois benefits. Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree;
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated experience coaching softball at the collegiate level;
- Proven record of successfully recruiting academic and athletically prepared student-athletes;
- Proven record of adherence to all NCAA compliance regulations.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
- Master's Degree;
- Experience coaching pitchers at the collegiate level.
