Project Estimator

Job Summary A member of the pre-construction team who is responsible for independently preparing sections of schematic, design development and construction document estimates including soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids and scopes of work, preparing quantity surveys, reviewing project plans and specifications for all CSI (Construction Specification Institute) categories of work. May supervise the work of other estimators and intern students. Job Functions Performs accurate, thorough and timely quantity takeoffs, using company format, detail and coding for some CSI division systems for all levels of project documents (schematic, design development, construction documents.) Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing when required. Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post bid interviews as required. Develops unit cost accurately and performs technical/plan review when required. Considers and understands problems, and identifies appropriate solutions. Develops knowledge in buildings designs, systems and constructions materials through available resources. Accurately assess and plans takeoff workload. Acts as a plans coordinator by reviewing and working with Senior Estimating Coordinator to assure that project plans and specifications are current and complete. Participates in personal career development through on the job training, attends pre-construction/ operations classroom training programs, participates in software training, seminars and assists in the development and training of interns. Constantly strives to improve capabilities, performance and expands knowledge of construction technologies. Required Education Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction is preferred. 5+ years of experience in estimating. Experience in Municipal Work, Higher Education, Healthcare, Public Schools, Assisted Living, Multifamily and Country Clubs as well as a variety of other markets. Ability to read engineering and architectural drawings and specifications. Strong analytical skills. Ability to read and understand contracts. Outstanding and professional oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, On-Screen Take Off is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr Blue Ridge Executive Search
