CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant, LTACH ICU/Critical Care Unit

Provide essential patient care in a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) intensive care and critical care unit. Assist with patient admissions, orientation, and daily care routines while maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Support patient admissions including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
• Respond promptly to patient needs, either directly or by notifying appropriate staff.
• Carry out delegated nursing care tasks to support the nursing plan.
• Maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Manage and restock supplies in medication and supply rooms.
• Ensure a clean, well-stocked patient environment.
• Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
• Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
• Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction, patient flow, and hospital capacity compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the state nursing assistant registry required.

Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.

Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and guest relations skills. Ability to read and write English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Understanding of age-specific patient care considerations. Ability to learn new skills and techniques quickly.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids possible.

Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Nursing Assistant certification required.
