CGS is looking for a Media Print (Journalist Role Player) Technician to support the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Working with the Media Lead, the Media Site Lead, the part-time Media Team, Higher Command (HICOM), Information Operations (IO) planners, Exercise Control (EXCON), Joint Effects Division (JED), and Opposing Forces (OPFOR) elements, the Media Print Technician manages media storylines, products, and injects across primarily print, as well as broadcast, and social mediums-from adversary perspectives-to enable units to train against realistic influence and information effects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portray media personnel (print and broadcast journalists) in a realistic and scenario-consistent manner during Warfighter Exercises and related events
- Research, write, and publish daily articles for the exercise newspaper, "The Warbird"
- Produce news stories, feature articles, and time-sensitive media injects aligned with the exercise storyline
- Conduct on-camera interviews with Soldiers, commanders, and staff to replicate real-world media engagements
- Capture, edit, and produce video news segments for distribution within the exercise environment
- Ensure all media products are consistent with scenario guidance and approved operational narratives
- Coordinate with Observer Coach/Trainers (OC/Ts) and exercise planners to support training objectives
- Operate video, audio, and editing equipment to produce high-quality media outputs under compressed timelines
- Adapt portrayal to represent various media perspectives (e.g., local, international, adversarial) as required
- Provide observational feedback on unit interactions with media as applicable
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in journalism, news writing, or broadcast media production
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, accurate, and engaging news content under deadline constraints
- Experience conducting interviews and presenting on camera in a professional setting
- Demonstrated successful experience producing print content such as articles, layouts, graphics along with development of themes and message narratives.
- Proficiency with video recording and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic training environment
- Availability to support periodic, short-duration exercises (typically 2-3 weeks in length)
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours during exercise execution
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting military training exercises or role-player/replication environments
- Familiarity with U.S. Army operations, structure, or Public Affairs processes
- Experience producing newspapers, newsletters, or daily publications
- On-camera broadcast journalism experience (live or recorded)
- Experience with graphic design/layout tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign)
- Knowledge of information operations, media effects, or strategic communications
- Previous military service or experience supporting DoD programs
Working Conditions: Inside Government training facilities.
Required Travel: Employees will travel to temporary work locations during exercises.
Job Type: Part-Time On-Call, Exempt
Contract Length: More than 1 year
