Senior Legal Editor, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity

Salary: $119,700 - 222,300 per year Requirements:

• We require a JD.
• We need at least eight years of experience practicing law in a law firm or in-house setting, with hands-on work in both U.S. and non-U.S. data privacy and cybersecurity matters, especially compliance.
• Experience handling complex global privacy compliance issues under data protection laws in the EU, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America is a plus.
• We look for strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of tools, including generative AI technologies, to improve speed and precision.
• We value adaptability and flexibility for diverse assignments in the generative AI space and with emerging technologies.
• We seek a deep interest in the growing overlap between AI and legal practice, including a desire to develop legal prompt engineering capabilities.
• We expect awareness of current market issues and proposals affecting data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations.
• We need an understanding of the priorities and needs of law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, and other privacy and cybersecurity compliance professionals.
• We look for strong writing ability and the skill to explain complex legal topics clearly and concisely in plain English.
• We value an innovative, agile mindset with excellent time management, organization, and project management skills.
• We prefer candidates who are enthusiastic about working on a fast-moving editorial team and excited to explore how AI can transform content creation.
• A writing sample will be required for candidates invited to a second interview.

• We research, draft, and maintain clear, current, practical data privacy and cybersecurity legal know-how content for Practical Law and other Thomson Reuters products.
• We monitor legal, practice, and market developments worldwide to keep content accurate and relevant.
• We apply our legal expertise to support customer-focused AI-powered tools, including identifying methods at the intersection of content development and AI-driven solutions.
• We partner with Product Management on tech innovation, product enhancements, and the integration of AI into our offerings.
• We use our legal knowledge and writing skills to support internal AI editorial tools.
• We build and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors and industry groups so our content reflects market practice and customer needs.
• We support sales, marketing, and other parts of the business, including responding to customer questions.
