Job Description Surgical Coordinator Job Description Company Overview Sibia Eye Institute offers state-of-the-art Ophthalmology care, all physicians have trained at the most renowned and respected ophthalmology programs in the world. This practice offers various Diagnostic Procedures and focuses on eye disorders. POSITION SUMMARY The Surgery Coordinator/Counselor is responsible for the surgery coordination and education of services for our patients. Surgery Coordinator/Counselor responsibilities include, but are not limited to premium services conversion, surgery scheduling, paperwork, and patient coordination of all procedures provided by our doctors. Must be extremely organized, detailed, a strong team player, and an effective communicator. Responsibilities Responsible for the premium services conversion rate of our patients. Provides patients with pre-op and postoperative counseling. Schedule appointment dates/times for patients and physicians using a computerized scheduling system with the ability to assist patients in being compliant in pre-op and post-op regiments. Interact with patients, physicians, and other staff, both within the clinic/ASC and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information. Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements. Provides accurate, thorough, and complete documentation of all information pertinent to patient treatment. Returns and responds to all calls relating to scheduling. Ensures any necessary medical clearances are obtained by the patient prior to surgery. Knowledgeable regarding co-management with referring providers and ensures compliance with the scheduling of post-operative visits. Communicates with referring providers as needed. Communicates with assigned physician and surgery center staff to ensure all special supplies are received prior to the surgical date and informs ASC of any add on patients. Reschedules appointments as needed. Helps with other ancillary tasks including but not limited to following up with patients that no-show or cancel surgical appointments, sending H&P orders and consents to outside hospitals, update surgical scheduler protocol handbook, constantly edit consents and documents as processes change, training sessions with our physicians, etc. Performed other duties as assigned Accurate clinical judgement Ability to pay attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality Obvious enthusiasm and interest in required Affable and outgoing personality with professional demeanor A sincere desire to learn The ability to communicate effectively to employees and patients Ability to make independent, accurate decisions regarding the best use of his/her time The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable The ability to recognize inconsistencies The ability to seek advice from others when accuracy is uncertain, and findings are inconsistent An attitude that reflects a desire to go beyond the minimum required duties Understanding that dependent upon need there may be instances where he/she is asked to travel to satellite offices Company Description Sibia Eye Institute offers state-of-the-art Ophthalmology care, all physicians have trained at the most renowned and respected ophthalmology programs in the world.
