Job Description We’re searching for a Facility Manager to join the Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring the facility’s efficient and safe functioning, creating a positive environment for all Virginia Tech patrons, and contributing to the overall success of the department. Key Details Department: Recreational Sports, enhancing the quality of life for the university community. Reports to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations. Regular twelve‑month, 100% Staff appointment. Primary responsibilities: overall management, supervision, and daily operation of the facility. Leads facility operations, staff supervision, risk management, and customer experience to ensure a safe, efficient, and high‑quality environment. Developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division. Base compensation: $50,000–$55,000 with a comprehensive benefits package. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Facility Management, Sport Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience in facility operations, campus recreation, or a similar environment. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of risk management, facility operations, and customer service best practices. CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, Business, or a related field. Previous supervisory experience, preferably with students and/or part‑time staff.
