Position Overview Health Educator Consultant – a career‑service role within the Florida Department of Health, Seminole County. The incumbent works directly with Operations and the Management Consultant Manager to coordinate nutrition education activities and lead community outreach efforts targeting underserved populations. The position strengthens community capacity by partnering with public health, healthcare, non‑health organizations, schools, faith‑based groups, and other community gatekeepers to advance chronic disease prevention and health promotion. Key Responsibilities Mobilize partners to advance chronic disease prevention and organize community outreach activities. Strengthen cross‑sectional partnerships that align public health, healthcare, and non‑health interventions to improve health outcomes. Conduct health promotion and public health education classes, workshops, and trainings for agency personnel, schools, civic groups, businesses, and the general public. Connect and partner with public schools, after‑school programs, and senior facilities to deliver classroom lessons on nutrition and physical activity. Facilitate the Healthy Seminole Collaborative, including the Chronic Disease subcommittee and other groups that advocate for all communities and organizations in the county. Engage partners to build or update activities addressing substance use disorder and mental health. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify community health needs and develop plans to meet those needs. Screen requests for community outreach events and coordinate with staff and program managers to meet community requests. Secure resources—staffing, services, and educational materials—for community outreach events. Serve as a focal point to educate the public about the role of the County Health Department. Complete and maintain after‑event follow‑up reports. Schedule and facilitate Employee Wellness Committee meetings and develop activities to improve employee wellness. Onboard and train new DOH‑Seminole staff during orientation; streamline operations and address identified deficiencies. Research and facilitate grant applications supporting the agency’s mission. Perform duties such as travel, emergency operations participation, reporting, and strategic action plan updates as required. Qualifications Knowledge of organizational planning, coordination, and execution—including strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, and leadership techniques. Understanding of data collection, analysis principles and procedures. Application of marketing strategies and tactics to promote health services. Ability to develop and implement projects, analyze strengths and weaknesses, and use logic and analysis to determine best approaches. Proficiency in communicating effectively in writing and orally to diverse audiences. Experience coordinating and collaborating with community partnerships. Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and project management skills. Ability to manage program activities, prepare technical reports, and understand applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Internet Explorer, FIRS, People First, Basic HMS, EARS, and Grants.gov. Preferred Qualifications Verifiable experience collecting, monitoring, and evaluating data. Experience developing training and presentation materials. Experience working with community partners on projects, special events, or other activities. Public speaking experience. Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred). Required Background & Legal Background check and/or drug screening required; successful completion of a drug test is a condition of employment. Social Security Number must be provided for background check.
