Facilities Specialist

American Leadership Academy-Blythewood is now accepting applications for Facilities Specialists . Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check. The Facilities Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the school by ensuring that premises are maintained in a safe and functional condition. This position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and groundskeeping tasks to ensure facilities operate efficiently and meet safety standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Create and complete work orders for scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and special projects related to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting, and HVAC; Inspects facilities for needed maintenance or repairs; performs routine installation, maintenance, and repair tasks of building and systems; Lock and unlock assigned buildings and secure facilities when they are not in use. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Assist with the school’s energy conservation practices by turning off unneeded lights and equipment; identifying unoccupied areas of the building where heating and cooling can be shut down; and reporting leaking faucets, pipes and sprinklers. Use a variety of hand tools and powered equipment, such as lawnmowers, rakes, trimmers. Workers may also apply chemicals, including fertilizers or pesticides. The work may be physically taxing and requires being outdoors in all kinds of weather, sometimes to prevent or repair weather-related issues. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Pass applicable background check Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or related trade. OSHA 10 and EPA 608 certifications Experience with HVAC systems, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, preventative maintenance programs, and general facility operations is preferred.
